'The Peg' is the little city that could. We're still not sure why people want to subject themselves to this kind of cold weather in the winter - and to the dreaded mosquitoes in the summer - but everyone we know that lives there says they really like living there.
Not a whole lot to do here, but these are the highlights:
Martini Bar in Osborne Village. Great place to try over 50 martinis and to play 'handsies'.
Royal Crown Revolving Restaurant. A block away from the Fort Gerry and a great place to truly appreciate how flat 'The Peg' really is.
Steak: Not really sure if Steak Club Winnipeg is going to take off, but we've had several good steak meals in multiple Keg Steakhouse locations: www.kegsteakhouse.com. However, our favourite is still Hy's at the corner of Portage and Main, 'Canada's windiest corner' It is true. Your woo-hoo can freeze in less than 40 seconds). www.hyssteakhouse.com
Manitoba Art Museum: www.wag.mb.ca Some people think this site gets ONE MILLION visitors a day. Those same people still owe us a bottle of Canada's finest ice-wine.
